Postgraduate course in coaching Ongoing learning and coaching The growing demand of professionalization related to an ever increasing offer, requires coaches who are rigorously trained and familiar with the diverse approaches that are used in different parts of the world regarding various schools and trainings. Each one of these entails specific models and methodologies that sustain and enrich the practice of our profession. The supervision of coaching conversations and the acquisition of this skill are considered part of the learning that professionals should undergo on an ongoing basis. Coaching as a learning process As long as we consider coaching as a learning process, this implies knowledge of the main learning models for adults and the derived praxis. We will work on learning styles and its relation and application in individual and organizational coaching. Thegoal is to maximize efficiency when designing interventions, taking into account the specificities of the coachee and/or the team. We will also see the differences between training and coaching processes. Coaching and Theory This module deals with the articulation of the different disciplines that provide theoretical support to coaching as a discipline. The applied model and methodologies depend on the diverse theoretical approaches. Given the various notions of what coaching is, including that which defines it as a set of skills, we consider that a strictly defined theoretical frame is needed. This also determines the intervention modalities. Neurosciences and Coaching We will examine and explore the contribution of neurosciences to the comprehension of the phenomenon of “human beingness”. The goal is to enlarge our theoretical background so as to better understand the learning process, the different constructs regarding multiple intelligences and the management of emotions. Coaching in organizations and intervention design The implementation of coaching processes is effective if it responds to the requirements of the person or organization at stake. These requirements can only be established by a previous diagnosis and explicit agreements about the expected results and the evaluation tools that will be used. We will see different models and methodologies that are currently used for the diagnosis and subsequent design of the intervention process, in both an individual and organizational level. The issue of ethics and ethics as an issue The proposal of this unit is to encourage students to explore topics related to ethics and values, in the organizational field, professional development and personal life. We will see that in different cultures values are displayed by different actions, explore our contradictions and the way in witch our practices contribute to build the reality we live in. Programs will be handed to students prior to the beginning of the course. The course program has been designed so as to include an overview of the different approaches that support coaching as a practice, including the contributions of those disciplines that constitute the theoretical framework of the discipline. It aims at: a) Providing knowledge (theory) b) Providing competencies (abilities and skills) c) Creating spaces for reflection and practice (learning) |
